I will say it is hard to disprove the Bible.
The bible is the anvil that has worn out many hammers.
Having said that.
It might take one a life time to figure out what the bible says.
if you do believe in the bible's message, do you believe society has gotten better, worse, or has remained the same?.
if you don't believe in the bible's message, do you believe society has gotten better, worse, or has remained the same?.
on a personal note, there are many things that i can't help but notice that coincide with what the apostle paul wrote to timothy in his second letter chapter 3 regarding tough times:.

in the long winter nights you need some good tv shows to watch while you wait for the eternity between seasons of game of thrones.. we've watched marco polo (pretty good) and have just started watching orange is the new black which is not at all what i imagined (didn't know it was funny!).
house of cards is on the list too as we've heard good things about that.. anyone have any others that are worth seeing?.
Longmire is good.
the earth's magnetic field is in a weakening stage right now.
data collected this summer by a european space agency (esa) satellite suggests the field is weakening 10 times faster than scientists originally thought.
if the magnetic field weakens enough, then the earth could be hit with dangerous amounts of solar radiation and cosmic rays .....
Good post.
It will be like an airplane joke on this forum.
onthewayout wrote: of course, for quite awhile (and probably still), congregations have been viewing any relatively young (maybe under 50 or even 60) partakers as mentally unstable and watchtower ignores such people anyway and says they must listen to the elders.
is this correct?
ever since the emblem-takers were given emeritus status as members of the faithful and discreet slave, have they been relegated to standard membership?
In my hall the ones who took the emblems were bat shxt crazy.
One even accidently shot himself in the chest with a gun.
And drove around in a car that had yhwh written all over it and
he had yhwh signs in front of his house.
back when i was learning ttatt, i was shocked to read on jwfacts about the organ transplant ban from 1967 to 1980. this was a large piece of evidence for me that the society could not be god's organization.
growing up as an earnest witness, and living near the headquarters, i knew a lot of the organization's embarrassing history, and it didn't faze me, but i'd never heard of this ban before, and it shocked me.
it's gotten me wondering why no one i know ever talks about it, when it must have affected many witnesses during that time (or were they getting transplants on the sly?
I knew about it. The organ transplant deal.
Back before the 80's there was no internet and not much communication.
I don't think transplants were as popular as they are today, just because I lived in
a small world and got my news and info from limited sources. The daily newspaer and Time magazine.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When I was a witness, the JW's were against everything including life itself.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Then in the early 80's a sickly friend had a kidney transplant and he got better.
I wondered how could that be?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I remember when you couldn't have organ transplants.
And you could not eat Milky way, 3 Muskateers bars and snickers bars, any Mars candy bars
Because the society said they had blood in them.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I remember when the United Nations was bad sort of like the Devil or the Harlot riding
Babylon the great and then I find out the Society was a member.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Looking back I see the society was double minded about many things hiding behind the excuse
that the light was getting brighter and brighter.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I don't think there light is getting brighter and brighter. I think they were staring into a
strobe light and it was confusing them.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Like one of the early witness presidents said religion was a snare and a racket.
That must be why he got into it, to snare and rackateer innocent gullible people.

When people are in the middle of the forest they can not see the forest for the trees.

I have a friend who is a scientologist and we have talked about it.
I told him how L.Ron Hubard said a person could make a milllion dollars if he started a religion.
My Scientology friend does not get it.
But he did say he had to stop going to scientology whatever where ever they go because he did not have enough money.
He was saving up.
I bought 2 Sears and Roebuck rubber lawn hoses in 1981 and I am still using them every day in Florida.
They came with a life time warranty.
i would like your thoughts, please..
My father never was a witness and my mother has been out for 20 years.
I have been to the hall for several weddings.
I stopped going to meetings in 83 but was never disfellowshiped.
People still talk to me.
this is a distilled (and from memory) reconstruction of a chat awhile back.
ive dusted it off for today.. my 81 year old ex-baptist minister friend dub and i went to starbucks for coffee and conversation.
dub likes to start conversations with strangers.. today a seminary student caught his eye.
Good post
hey!.
it's the weekend.. is there anything more glorious musically?.

I got to see Procol Harum with Robin Trower open for Hunble Pie with Steve Marriot and Peter Frampton in Canton Ohio.
Back in the day of Rock and Roll.
the desert areas of central australia, the so-called 'red heart' of the nation, still has a significant population of original australians.
and many of them seem to have difficulty with the law.*.
that's a very brief and simplistic introduction to this video of prison guards in the alice springs jail, manhandling a young boy.
That is the business I was in and retired from a detention officer at the county jail.
That is the way it goes.
I don't see anything wrong with what they did.
The youth threatened to harm himself,
That is why his clothes had to be removed.
Would you like to get spit in the face by someone who has aids or hepatitis?
How do you know what his health status is when he was just booked in?
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
In the USA a criminals health status is not revealed to the guards.
They told him to get dressed in the smock and he refused and he threatened to hurt himself
so his clothes had to be removed.
I don't see the guard putting all his weight on the boy, but if he did and that is what it takes to
subdue the boy, and that is what you have to do.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The video looks like something I did many times.
I have seen much worse.
And I have known a lot of officers that were fired for much worse.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I have to conclude that Dr. Bath has no hands on practical experience in dealing with juvenile delinquents.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Book knowledge does not cut it in the real world.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The youth is in jail. He did not get there because he was helping a little old lady cross the street
or because he sings well.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If he does not want that sort of treatment. He should not act that way.
If he had parents that cared about him they would tell him that but the truth of the matter is
most youth that end up in detention are street urchins they have no responsible parents.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Jesus, the bible and history says you will always have the poor.
Being poor is a mental condition and this boys behavior and his parents behavior are the acting out of the mental
condition of being poor.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The boy threatened self harm so his clothes had to be removed so he can not strangle himself with them.
You cant just throw him in a room and wait for him to hang himself, which they do, then you have to go in
and wrestle with them while they have a sheet or shirt or underwear around their neck.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
When I was in the business, I am retired now, I did everything I could to keep the youth out of
the predicament/situation the youth in the video is in. But you can not always avoid it.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
These youth are on various meds on the street and because of poor parenting among other things
they go off their meds and that is what gets them in jail. Then it escalates because they are off their meds.
Maybe they should never be on meds to begin with. They probably just need a mother and father and guidance
and discipline at home.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If I was on that shift working with those officers, I would have said" good job men, Well done'
They tell us at the police academy that people with no practical experience just book knowledge
(Dr. Bath)
would be judging our actions over Fritos and Coke.
I have to say we all know that going in.
Its a job with good benefits and a retirement. That is why people do it.
